These are all instrumental guitar-based recordings written/performed by Wang. I've been playing for a while now and enjoy recording ideas and making tracks. The best part for me is sharing the music via the Internet and receiving feedback/comments on my tracks, so that I can improve!
The tracks are available to download in MP3 format, and you will see a poll next to each track which lets you rate it out of 10 :)

Equipment
The equipment used is a Ibanez JS1000 and a USA Standard Fender Telecaster, played through a Line 6 Pod XT into a Boss BR532 digital 4-track. Please ignore the poor drums, which are essentially just there to keep time, and are of course from a drum machine (the drum machine built into the BR532).
Recordings were then transferred from the BR532 into Adobe Audition (Windows recording/mixer application) for final editing and conversion to MP3.

About this track
It's been so long since I posted a track on the site! This new track is called "Reflecting" and (shock/horror) it's one of the first tracks I have ever uploaded featuring bass guitar. I purchased a cheap bass guitar a few months back and this track was my first opportunity to use it. What a difference :)
This track has a strong rhythm opening with an interesting effect layered on top (people have described it as echoey and watery). As the track progresses you will hear it go calmer and then rockier, this track definitely has a mix of moods running through it. I hope you enjoy it.

About this track
I decided I hadn't recorded anything for some time, so I thought I would just play and see what came out :) The result is this track, which was written and recorded in the space of a few hours.
Defining Moment is different to my other tracks in that it doesn't actually have any lead guitar (ok, there is a tiny bit near the end) - it's almost all rhythm played by two layered guitars with different distortions. I wasn't sure whether or not to publish this track on the site as I usually only put the ones I really like up, but I felt this was good enough and had some nice bits to it. Enjoy :) and please let me know what you think.

About this track
Here is an interesting track - it starts off very mellow indeed with a bluesy style, and then very quickly breaks into quite a heavy riff/solo. I didn't originally intend it to break out so heavily but I accidentally placed some drums in the wrong place and ended up keeping them because I liked the stop/start rhythm it created.
This is also the first track not to use the Boss BR-532 for drums (I am now using a drumsondemand.com CD which I think gives a lot more control over the drum parts and a more realistic sound). This is quite a short track, but I think it has all it needs :) See what you think!

About this track
After recording the last track ("Evolving Twilight") and being so pleased with it - I wanted to record another track right away :) I began working on "Freedom of Expression" and came up with a clean intro that builds into a nice relaxed rhythm.
I then found it hard to make progress with the track - a lot of the guitar tones I tried for the lead were not sounding right, and I was not sure where this track should go (should it stay light/mellow, or get more rocky? etc).
I decided to leave it for a couple of days and come back to it. Once I started work on it again, I came up with a distorted/delayed lead part that I liked and I worked on the backing, making it sound a bit more rocky/energetic than the intro.
I wouldn't say this is my best track I have written - but I am pleased with it and I think the intro has a nice feel and builds into the distorted parts nicely. Overall I would say this track has a good feeling :)

I am really happy with this track, and it is the first track I have ever had published on CD!
"Evolving Twilight" is now featured on the Talk2Joe CD 2 album (click here to read the news item), which is a project bringing together talented guitarists who have been inspired by the playing of Joe Satriani. The idea was to make a CD of all our own guitar compositions for charity. 100% of the proceeds will go to the Red Cross as per Joe Satriani's request. You can listen to excerpts from the CD here.
This started with an initial wah riff - and then the distorted chords seemed to fit in well behind it creating quite an attention grabbing intro I think. The interesting aspect of this track is the contrast between sections - it goes from energetic and distorted, to quieter and melodic, and the end of the track is completely different to the beginning.
This is one of those tracks that just seemed to make itself, and it is good fun to play! After the first version I went back and re-recorded the quieter sections and made a new ending to the track with a hammeron/pulloff riff which I think is quite melodic and provides a very calm/relaxing ending (listen to 2:00 onwards).

Very different track! this is a much more electronic track, I made it by accident...I was just playing around in the fruityloops program and came up with something I liked and wanted to keep.
It has a hackerish theme to it with the whole "All your bases are belonging to us" voice hehe :) I like it!

About this track
This a song made for omega for our second Anniversary :) It is a balad, light and melodic, upbeat and with a more powerful second half - the theme of the song is thinking of the ones we love.

About this track
A rocky melodic track with a rhythm guitar entry, and lead coming in after. I really like this track so far, i think it has a strong and melodic lead and builds quite nicely to the middle of the track.
I am most likely going to re-record this and change a few small parts, as I think this has potential to be one of the best I have recorded :):) It just has a real nice feel and timing to it.

A song made for omega on her birthday :):) Happy Birthday!! it is a very mellow and melodic track, with a clean guitar sound :)
I really like the way this track turned out - it is very melodic and a lot lighter than most of my tracks, quite different. See what you think :)

Quiet melodic intro, has a heavier chorus and changes to a distorted guitar 3/4 of the way through. One of my favourite tracks. This track incorporates a few guitar riffs that I was going to use in other tracks but couldn't for various reasons - I didn't think they would go together in this one, but they do :) And it is also the first track to experiment a little with added sound effects.

About this track
Interesting track :) Kootda gave me a drum track pre-made (designed to be similar to Alien in style/tempo) and I wrote/player around it. That's complete the opposite of what I would usually do drum-wise ;) so it is interesting to see how this came out.
It is likely I will re-do the ending to this, or perhaps cut the track slightly and keep it as a short track. I like the beginning a lot, and it has a change mid way between quiet/slow to a faster distorted riff.

About this track
This is written and dedicated to the most special and beautiful person - omegataurus. I really like this one a lot, it has a lot of emotion...quiet intro and a heavier chorus.
I recorded the rhythm guitar and really liked the softness/sparkle of the clean sound. I wanted to add a melodic lead guitar over the top to create a gentle/relaxing sound. This builds up to the chorus which is a bit heavier but just as emotional. i'm looking forward to adding more to this track :)

This is a little bit different. This is actually a backing track from the August Guitarist magazine CD which I liked, and decided to put onto the four track and record over (and therefore I did not put the drums or bass onto this track, they were already provided for me).
The tracks style is meant to be a cross between blink182 and bowling for soup style (therefore its a pop-punky, rocky, distorted, moderately fast track), I don't know if the end track sounds like that or not :) but its a fun track to play and sounds nice imho.

A track written for those waiting for a moment in time :) It is a special track written for the most special person of all.
This track has an atmospheric into with a lead coming in and adding to the energy of the track. It is a work-in-progress at the moment, as I would like to go back to it at a later time and add more :)

Warning!, this is an odd one for me...I was trying to get an atmostpheric sounding backing, and just stumbled upon the lead guitar effect. Started messing about, and this is the result...has a tune and is definately more of an atmospheric track than a rip-roaring rock track :)
The strange part is that the lead guitar sounds more like a keyboard than a guitar! but I promise it is a guitar :) And yep, i'm aware that a bit near the end sounds like an idlewild lead...hopefully not the same since I don't really like idlewild!

About this track
A clean sounding guitar (riff which I have been meaning to use for a while, using 9th's) with a phaser lead. This track is probably one of the more progressive that I have recorded and it has a lot going on and many sections to it.
I was very pleased about the sound quality on this track, I think the recording went well and despite it being one of my older tracks now (2002) - it stands up very well and is still one of the tracks I am most proud of (it's also fun to play!).

About this track
This track was written and recorded very quickly (I think it took 2 hours) and I was very pleased with the result! It is a moderate rock track, and I think it is a very upbeat. It also has a nice progression between the rockier parts and the clean sections. It is one of the shortest complete tracks I have written, but I don't think it needs to be any longer :)
It ended up being called "Theme to a TV Show" because some people thought it sounded like it could be like the intro music to a TV show lol.

About this track
"Everything Changes" was the first track I was really pleased with on a production level. I think compared to some of the tracks I had recorded previously, this marked a big improvement in both my playing/recording.
I was very pleased with the opening riff, which I wrote whilst recording (I hardly ever sit down with an idea to record...I just play and see what happens). After the intro, I experimented with a few other progressions I had been playing. I think at the time I was listening to a guitarist called Alejandro Silva, and his influence does show on this track in a few places. I think this is one of the more "progressive" of my tracks.

About this track
Alien was one of the first tracks I named when I started recording. A fast track with techno-style beat and a mix of clean/spacey with heavily distorted parts. I tried a lot of different stuff out, and it sounds very spacey in places...very different to any of the other tracks here.
The distortion on this is not very good (sounds very chainsaw-ish and clips at some points) - but I think the clean/phaser sounds came out very nicely. I have tried to re-record the distorted parts a few times now that I have a bit more experience with recording + better equipment - but for some reason it never comes out sounding the same as it does on this original version. Although it's not perfectly recorded - some things are best alone :) I know a few people who really like this track a lot!

About this track
This is the first track I ever recorded :) - I will always be really proud of it and I think even now when I listen to it a few years on, it sounds cool and has a nice feeling to it. There are production issues definately (the first distorted section really needs a re-record) - but I think all-in-all it was a great first effort :)
This is a fairly easy going track, light rock I guess. I have been told this track is very melodic, but I will let you decide :) 4/5 layered guitar parts.
